Scooter’s Coffee Opens 200th Store on 168th & Blondo in Omaha, NE
Company Targets 1,000 Locations by 2023
January 8, 2019 – Omaha, NE – Scooter’s Coffee, the Midwest-based coffee franchise that has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, crossed a remarkable milestone in 2018: 200 locations.
On December 26, the brand-new location on 168th & Blondo (16804 Decatur St.) opened and marked Scooter’s Coffee’s 200th store nationwide. To celebrate, this location will host a Grand Opening event on January 18 complete with a ribbon cutting and special promotions to celebrate this amazing day in Scooter’s Coffee franchise history. John Gajewski, owner of this location and an 11-year Scooter’s Coffee franchisee, has seen the brand grow and develop over the years.
“When I first joined the Scooter’s Coffee team, there were around 30 stores,” said Gajewski. “It’s been amazing to have a front row seat to watch the growth of this great company and to be opening their 200th location. It’s an honor.”
When founders Don and Linda Eckles opened Scooter’s Coffee in March of 1998, Gajewski was Vice President of Human Resources at an insurance company in Omaha. “Don and Linda’s original store was about two miles down the street from where I lived,” said Gajewski. “I would drive by it every morning on my way to work.”
Scooter’s Coffee eventually turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Gajewski. As Omaha’s favorite specialty-coffee franchise was growing, he noticed his industry was hitting a lull. “I’m the type of person who likes to study trends, and I could see the insurance industry was experiencing consolidation at a pace that didn’t look promising for my future,” said Gajewski.
In 2007, Gajewski made the decision to buy into the Scooter’s Coffee system. His planning, foresight, and intuition proved to be correct. A few years after becoming an owner, his run with the insurance industry came to an end. From there it was coffee or bust.
On January 18, the 200th store on 168th & Blondo in Omaha will feature a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., plus giveaways throughout the day. The schedule is:
- 9 a.m. - Free $5 Scooter’s Coffee gift card with purchase to the first 50 customers.
- 1 p.m. - Free Scooter’s Coffee tumbler with purchase to the first 50 customers.
- 4 p.m. - Free $5 Scooter’s Coffee gift card with purchase to the first 50 customers.
In addition, the 200th customer of the day at 168th & Blondo will win FREE coffee for a YEAR!
Exceeding 200 stores is significant and reflects an important road mark for the brand; the newest location marks a noteworthy milestone as Scooter’s Coffee’s advances toward a goal of 1,000 stores.
“With now over 200 locations in 14 states and climbing, interest in the Scooter’s Coffee brand and franchise opportunity has increased exponentially,” said Todd Graeve, Scooter’s Coffee Chief Executive Officer. “We’re staged for the next 200 Scooter’s Coffee locations and beyond.”
